3D computer vision is helping AI move beyond flat images by understanding depth, distance, and spatial relationships, creating new possibilities for robotics, autonomous systems, and intelligent infrastructure
Traditional computer vision has mainly focused on understanding what is visible in an image, such as identifying objects, people, vehicles, or other elements within a scene. However, two-dimensional images do not always provide enough information for AI systems to fully understand the physical environment in which those objects exist.
3D computer vision aims to overcome this limitation by adding spatial information such as depth, distance, shape, geometry, and the relationships between objects.
